The Point, LCCC, Manchester

Placed 11st in the Placebook vote of favourite buildings by BDP
The Point is the first part of BDP's masterplan to help bring Test Match cricket back to Old Trafford. Editor of Lighting magazine, Ben Cronin commends it:

This is a highly effective and complex scheme that allows the visitor to experience a variety of scenes while walking through the building.

The design makes judicious use of new technology – 80 per cent of the lighting is LED – to achieve a subtle aesthetic that is both flexible and energy efficient. The crisp white façade is particularly impressive.

It also recently beat some stiff competition to win the Lighting for Leisure category at this year’s  Lighting Design Awards: http://www.lighting.co.uk/story.aspx?storyCode=8612656
