At the heart of BDP's Heslington East campus, the Ron Cooke Hub brings together students, researchers, businesses and the community at large. Hub Business Manager Grahame Browne salutes a 'melting pot' for engagement

The Hub is the University of York’s flagship building on its Heslington East development, and recently the recipient of a York Design Award 2011.

The building is a ‘melting pot’ for engagement. Its design encourages discussion and interaction, bringing people together across disciplines and sectors, from within and outside the university, providing space for new, value-adding ideas and partnerships.

The building is sustainably designed and incredibly flexible, including a 4-storey Atrium, unique 3Sixty Immersive demonstration space, and ‘floating’ meeting pods, amongst its many other innovative and attractive spaces, a number of which are privately bookable.

Since opening its doors at the end of 2010 the building has hosted over 150 external events and seen well over 500 businesses and thousands of students pass through its doors.
